The first time I used it, it worked like a dream. I thought FINALLY, an easy to use, easy to read, candy thermometer. The second time I used it, my toffee mixture was at around 230 degrees, when the reading dropped to 130 degrees and didn’t go back up. I scrambled to get my Thermapen so I could finish my toffee.A week later, I tried again and the exact same thing happened. My toffee mixture was coming to temperature, then bam, the temperature reading drops to the low 100’s. An absolute piece of junk.All was not lost however. I removed the crappy probe and inserted a 12” Chef Alarm probe. I had to brace it with a piece of silicone, but it works great; the spatula itself is heatproof and quite nice and now I can stir my toffee, fudge, and caramel to my heart’s content, and get an accurate reading off my high quality and accurate Chef Alarm.
